Cairns YHA

We came to Cairns just for one reason – The Great barrier reef. But we found out, that we liked the city – probably also because of our stay at this great hostel.

It’s a two storey building with a pool AND a whirpool in the middle, a good equipped kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining facilities, tour desk with great discounts and deals for members and a laundry room with a huge washingmachine (we could wash one full backpack)!

They offer dorms, privates and family rooms and the shared bathrooms were always clean and neat.

Freebies at the hostel:

– airport pick up
– pancakes

Our favourite spot at the hostel was the pool and the hammocks in front of our room.

Oh, not to forget: Location. It’s right in front of a big shopping centre and just a few blocks from the lagoon and more important: Trinity Wharf – the gateaway point for the Great Barrier reef. Both (including the Greyhound bus stop) in walking distance.
