Lima – the cloudy capital

January 5, 2016

We arrived late in the evening, took a taxi and went straight to bed. The next morning we woke up being hosted by the friendliest host we had in South America. We had no idea what to do in Lima. After some advice we arranged our onwards travels and ended spending three nights here. On … More Lima – the cloudy capital

Huanchaco – the birthplace of surfing

December 14, 2015

Huanchaco wasn’t in any of our plans, but after bumping into Slovenians in Machu Picchu we hoped to meet them again (for a beer or two 🙂 ). Meeting in Lima wasn’t possible so we decided to modify our plan. And it was a good decision. Together we went to Chan Chan. This is an … More Huanchaco – the birthplace of surfing

The poor man’s Galapagos – Paracas

December 14, 2015

Do you like penguins, sea lions, pelicans and other birds? Or maybe you don’t know, you like them – yet, like we didn´t. Anyway, all these animals can be seen on Ballestas islands in the middle of the Peruvian Pacific coast. We drove with a boat to the first island, where you can only see … More The poor man’s Galapagos – Paracas

Sandboarding in Huachacina

December 13, 2015

We had the first opportunity for sandboarding in Atacama Desert, but we decided to go stargazing. This time we didn’t want to miss it. And it was cheaper than in Atacama – we paid 35 SOL fort the whole trip (buggy, sandboarding, sunset in the desert), which was really fun and in our opinion one … More Sandboarding in Huachacina

Flying over the Nazca lines

December 12, 2015

These lines are still a mystery. Scientists refer to them as geoglyphs made by the Nazca people around 500 BCE and 500 CE. But why are they here? We drove directly to the airport, because you can get the best prices directly at the airline. There are around 7–8 different airlines operating flights over the … More Flying over the Nazca lines

Mystical Machu Picchu

December 11, 2015

We divided our visit to Machu Picchu into two articles because we didn’t want to spoil the article about Machu Picchu with the problems we had with our tour. Machu Picchu is on the list of 7 wonders of the world. Well deserved if you ask me. Looking at the list (Colloseum, Taj Mahal, Christ … More Mystical Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu by car or how NOT to do it

December 11, 2015

As already mentioned a few times we came to South America pretty unprepared. We are somehow travelling with the motto: “go with the flow”, which has proven as not the best in South America. But we knew from the start that we are going to visit Machu Picchu. There are many ways how you can … More Machu Picchu by car or how NOT to do it

The oldest winery in South America

November 11, 2015

Today is a big day in Slovenia – St. Martin´s day. Today the grape juice becomes wine. And although we´re in South America, we celebrated a bit. We visited the oldest winery in South America named Tacama. It´s about 20 minutes’ drive from central Ica (don´t pay more than 10–20 soles) and the tour and … More The oldest winery in South America
